In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

     Watch this video. Pretty cool.

LOL

Once, an akh  (brother) told me that he enjoyed being a driver for participants, though some may think that the job is actually....you know, not cool at all. HUH? How do you define something that is 'cool', say, a 'heroic' job?

Someone that is able to point out actual facts during a taujih  (talk)

Someone that is able to touch the very heart of those who listen.

Someone that is able to make cool videos, raise the enthusiasm of those who watched.

Someone that has leadership values, 'one word says it all'

And any that represents the term heroic in a 'physical' way

But, that akh  is not someone with all the values mentioned. Just being a driver for the 'kids'?? Without any cool words or actions?? Oh puhhh-lease.

Another akh , just like the first akh , is not someone who's able to speak properly. Almost a stammer. In any event organised, he volunteered to prepare meals for the participants, which normally people will try to avoid. I never saw him do something such as giving talks, able to coordinate exciting games, or any that looks like heroic by 'physical' means.

"This is all I can do for islam. (Knowing) that satisfy my heart" is what he normally says.

Why do I mention something like being 'heroic' or 'cool'? You know, this kind of stuff bothered me lately. 'Cause, there actually exist a bunch of people that REALLY bothered with being 'heroic' in everything.

      Something to ponder,

Which 'God' should we serve?

Some people trouble themselves just to please the community around them. Why is that?

Some people distress themselves to create a heroic image in front of those around them. Pathetic isn't it?

Do they worship the people around them? Turning them into their Gods?

Na'udzubillahi min dzalik  (may Allah protect us from that).

To whom should we prove our deeds to then?

"Action are but by intentions and every man shall have only that which he inteded. Thus, he whose migration was for Allah and His Messenger, his migration was for Allah and His Messenger, and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated."

[Agreed upon]

"Allah does not look at your figures nor at your attire but He looks at your heart and accomplishments"

[Muslim]

Lillaahi ta'ala . For the sake of Allah ta'ala . Now that sounds more heroic, don't you think?

It is therefore essential every noble action (errrrrr... in this case, cool action, heroic action, etc.) should be based on these two virtues, and the heart should be free from all things that destroy noble deeds.

'Heroic' action comes from 'heroic' intention. 'Cool' action comes from 'cool' intention. Noble action comes from noble intention. Actions are (INDEED!) judged by intentions. That's more like it.

For Malay readers, these are some useful quotes from Hasan Al-Banna (sorry I couldn't find for the English translation):

1.  Wahai ikhwan! Sebenarnya saya ingin senantiasa beramal dengan tidak banyak bercerita. Kepada amal sahaja kami wakilkan pembahasan tentang Ikhwan dan langkah-langkahnya.

2. Cukuplah bagi kami hanya Allah yang Mengetahuinya

Now, set your path straight. Be a good servant, starting from your intention.

You wanna be cool huh? Fix your intention first
